Marriage between a Catholic and a non-Catholic

If you are getting married to a non-Catholic, you will need to apply to the Diocese/Archdiocese for a Dispensation for Mixed Religions.  To do this you will need to:

  1. Meet with your priest to prepare the form for submission to the Diocese/Archdiocese.  Your priest will supply the form.
  2. The required information includes: Name, Address, Date of Baptism, Church of Baptism for both parties and the proposed Date of Marriage.
  3. This takes approximately 3 weeks to process.  Once it has been approved, you can then continue with the rest of the preparations.

If you have any questions, please contact your local parish, your local diocesan office, or one of the Irish Immigration Pastoral Centers in the United States.
